Gaindakot Ward 8 distributed food items, mosquito nets, diapers, and sanitary pads to persons with disabilities today as part of their disability-focused program.
At a formal ceremony held at the ward office, supplies worth Rs. 125,000 were distributed to 46 individuals with disabilities, according to Ward Chairman Prem Sapkota. He mentioned that the ward has been consistently working on various initiatives for the welfare and convenience of its residents.
Chairman Sapkota encouraged the recipients to save money, noting that if all 46 individuals saved regularly, they could accumulate Rs. 4,600 in the first month. He emphasized that savings would be beneficial when needed in the future and assured that the ward would provide support for skills development and livelihood opportunities.
Laxmi Adhikari from the Sunaulo Disabled Self-Reliance Group of Gaindakot Ward 8 stated that persons with disabilities can work like anyone else and should move forward with courage. She emphasized the importance of coordination with relevant agencies and working together for success.
Persons with disabilities in the ward have been saving monthly and have already collected over Rs. 150,000 in savings.
The program included well-wishes from Executive Committee Member Kamala Acharya, Ward Member Khageshwar Sapkota, Kalika Community Development Organization Chairman Laxmi Prasad Kandel, and Adikavi Bhanubhakta Community Chairman Padma Subedi.
Maya Sapkota, Treasurer of the Sunaulo Disabled Self-Reliance Group, delivered the welcome remarks, while Madhumaya Ranabhat from the Women and Children’s Section conducted the program.
